Eccentric weight adjustment: same machine, two results

The same vibratory finishing machine performs both deburring and fine grinding. The difference is not in the equipment. It is in the settings.

Two movements, two effects

The mix of parts and media moves in the bowl in two ways at once.

Circular movement — the mix travels around the bowl. This produces a grinding effect.

Transverse movement — the mix travels from the outside of the bowl toward the inside. This produces a deburring effect.

Whichever dominates is the effect you get.

The angle between the weights

The vibratory motor carries two packs of eccentric weights, one at the top and one at the bottom of the shaft. The angle between them sets the intensity.

Small angle — reduced circular and transverse speeds. Finer processing.

Large angle — increased speeds. More aggressive processing.

Additional weights

Weights can be added to or removed from each pack, and each pack controls one movement.

The upper pack controls circular speed. Add weights, it increases. Remove them, it drops.

The lower pack controls transverse speed. Same logic.

So: for more deburring, load the lower pack. For more grinding, load the upper one.

In practice

The setting is made once, for a family of parts, and recorded. It is not touched daily.

The motor usually allows two speeds: 1,500 and 1,000 rpm at 50 Hz. The lower speed is not a weaker version of the higher one — it is the regime where thin or already finished parts stop hitting each other.

An optional speed controller adds flexibility when very different products run on the same machine. Worth it if you change part families often; not if you run the same item for months.
